At Mainely Standards, every dog is family.

Long before there are puppies, there are the dogs who helped build our program, shape our pack, and leave lasting impressions on everyone who meets them. These dogs are more than pedigrees, health tests, and titles. They are companions, teachers, troublemakers, adventure partners, and cherished members of our family.

As our dogs retire from our breeding program, we carefully consider what comes next. Some retired dogs remain right here at Mainely Standards, continuing to enjoy life as valued members of our pack. Others may be placed in carefully selected homes where they can receive additional one-on-one attention and enjoy the next chapter of their lives as beloved companions.

When we do make a retired dog available, the decision is never made lightly. These dogs have spent years earning our trust, affection, and admiration. Finding the right home is every bit as important as finding the right home for one of our puppies.

Retired dogs can make wonderful companions. They often arrive with established house manners, training, confidence, and the steady temperament that comes from maturity. For some families, a retired dog may be the perfect fit.

Because every dog and every situation is different, we do not maintain a list of available retired dogs. Instead, we encourage families who may be interested in a mature companion to reach out and tell us about themselves, their home, and what they are looking for in a dog.

Just as we believe every puppy deserves the right home, we believe every retired dog deserves one too.
