At Mainely Standards, we use NexGard as our flea and tick preventative of choice. Living in Maine, ticks are simply a part of life, and protecting our dogs from tick-borne illnesses is something we take seriously.
NexGard provides month-long protection against fleas and ticks in a convenient chewable form that our dogs genuinely enjoy. It is approved for puppies 8 weeks of age and older and has become an important part of our health and wellness program.
No preventative is perfect, and we still recommend regularly checking your dog for ticks, especially after spending time outdoors. However, our experience with NexGard has been very positive, and it is the product we trust for our own pack.
One of the biggest challenges isn’t convincing our dogs to take it. It’s making sure everyone only gets one. When NexGard day arrives, our pack seems to know exactly what’s happening and starts gathering long before the first chew is handed out. We usually have to hand them out one at a time to make sure nobody decides they deserve a second helping.
