Mainely Standards Policies
Ethical Breeding
At Mainely Standards, the health, temperament, and well-being of our dogs always come first. We perform appropriate health testing, carefully evaluate temperament, and strive to produce healthy, well-rounded Standard Poodles that can thrive as family companions. We are committed to responsible breeding practices, transparency, and supporting our puppies and their families throughout their lives.
Rehoming
Life happens, and sometimes circumstances change. If you ever find yourself unable to keep your Mainely Standards dog, we ask that your first call be to us.
We care deeply about every puppy we raise and want to help ensure they end up in a safe, loving, and appropriate home. Whether that means helping you find a new family or discussing other options, we want to be part of the conversation.
Health Guarantee
All Mainely Standards puppies leave our home healthy and up to date on age-appropriate veterinary care. Puppies come with health records documenting vaccinations, deworming, and veterinary care received while in our program.
We encourage every family to schedule a veterinary examination shortly after bringing their puppy home. Specific details of our health guarantee are outlined in our purchase agreement.
Spay and Neuter Policy
Unless otherwise agreed upon in writing, puppies sold as companions are expected to be spayed or neutered at an appropriate age as recommended by your veterinarian.
This policy helps support responsible ownership and protects the integrity of our breeding program.
Puppy Pick-Up Policy
Families are expected to pick up their puppy on the agreed-upon date unless alternate arrangements have been made in advance.
We understand that schedules and travel plans occasionally change. Communication is key, and we are happy to work with families whenever possible. Extended stays beyond the agreed-upon date may result in additional care fees.
Travel Policy
For the safety and well-being of our puppies, we do not ship puppies as cargo.
Whenever possible, we prefer in-person pickup or hand-delivery arrangements that allow puppies to travel safely and comfortably.
Ownership Transfer
Ownership of the puppy transfers once full payment has been received and all required agreements have been completed.
Buyer Responsibilities
By purchasing a Mainely Standards puppy, families agree to provide:
Appropriate veterinary care
Proper nutrition
Training and socialization
A safe and loving home environment
Lifelong commitment to the puppy’s well-being
We believe every dog deserves the right home, and successful ownership requires commitment from both breeder and family.
Deposits
Deposits are non-refundable but may be transferred to a future litter if circumstances prevent a family from taking a puppy from the originally planned litter.
We do not hold puppies without a deposit, and deposits help us plan responsibly for both puppies and prospective families.
